Colorado’s Largest Cat Skiing Company

Terrain. Terrain. Terrain.

The San Juan Ski Company's 35,000-plus acres of permitted kick-ass snowcat skiing real estate offers the best catskiing in Colorado - from chutes and open bowls to steep trees and cruiser glades all blanketed with miles and miles of untracked powder.

Based at Durango Mountain Resort and operating in the rugged and remote San Juan Mountains north and west of the resort, the San Juan Ski Company's permitted snowcat skiing terrain encompasses more area than all Colorado ski resorts combined.

Just image your own private ski area larger than Aspen, Vail, Winter Park, Steamboat, Telluride and Crested Butte (to name a new).

Since our terrain is challenging, we cater to advanced and expert skiers/snowboarders.

Instead of sharing powder lines with hundreds of frenzied ski resort skiers and riders, it's just you, a handful of other guests, two certified guides, a snowcat, and thousands of acres of incredible snowcat skiing and snowcat snowboarding.

If you are looking for a backcountry powder adventure, the San Juan Ski Company can deliver the goods!

The SJSC has been accessing some of Colorado's most mind-blowing backcountry skiing for more than 15 years. Nestled between the famous triumvirate in Southwest Colorado of Telluride, Silverton, and Wolf Creek, the skiing in Durango sometimes gets lost in the shadow of Telluride’s Palmyra Peak, Silverton’s untapped backcountry, and Wolf Creek’s annual snowfall. Don’t be fooled, though; San Juan Ski Company boasts goods that rival all three spots in the Southwest Colorado triangle." Grey Fitzsimmons -Teton Gravity Research.

Why follow storms when the SJSC promises powder

Although the ski industry and economy may be in for another ride as bumpy as a mogul run this winter, the San Juan Ski Company hopes to weather out the stormy financial forecast and Colorado's unpredictable weather by guaranteeing powder on all snowcat trips.

Skiers/riders are guaranteed untracked powder or their snowcat trip will be refunded. The San Juan Ski Company is the only snowcat skiing operation that makes this guarantee.

In an unsettled economy, owner/lead guide Bob Rule hopes this powder guarantee will give clients peace of mind before and after booking a trip.

“If you come skiing or boarding with the San Juan Ski Company, you won't be skiing or riding on snow that was tracked up by clients before you got here. You will get to ski on that rare commodity - untracked powder snow,” said Rule.
