San Juan Ski Company

  colorado snowcat skiing

With more than 60 square miles to explore in the heart of the rugged and remote San Juan Mountains in Southwestern Colorado, the San Juan Ski Company is North America's second largest snowcat skiing and snowboarding operation.

Based at Durango Mountain Resort/Purgatory and located less than 20 miles (as a crow flies) from both Silverton Mountain and Telluride Resort, the San Juan Ski Company is also Colorado's largest cat skiing tour operator with over 36,000 acres.

Our permitted snow cat skiing and snowboarding terrain encompasses more acreage than all Colorado ski resorts combined! Just imagine your own private backcountry ski area larger than Aspen, Breckenridge, Crested Butte, Keystone, Steamboat, Telluride, Vail and Winter Park.

Instead of sharing powder lines with hundreds of frenzied ski resort skiers/snowboarders, it's just you, a handful of guests, two guides, a snowcat, and thousands of acres of kick-ass snowcat skiing and snowboarding.

Since our terrain is challenging, we cater to advanced skiers and snowboarders who are comfortable shredding deep powder in trees. We do not split the group based on abilities. If you are a beginner powder skier, we encourage you to book a learn-to-ski powder lesson with us.

NEW THIS YEAR: We have added learn-to-ski powder cats, steep clinics, backcountry guided ski tours (with snowmobile access) half-day snowcat trips, avalanche courses and family catskiing tours.

Ski for $250 - plus 10% tax
Private Snowcat Rental - $2,500, plus 10% tax
