Where We Meet
Our desk is in the Purgatory/Durango Mountain Resort ticket office,
located on the plaza level of the Purgatory Lodge. We meet at
8am. On the morning of your trip, we will collect any monies due
and have you sign a Release of Liability form. We will also
brief your group about the day’s weather, avalanche hazard, snowcat
safety and backcountry protocol.
What to Bring
We suggest that you bring a small daypack
to hold personal items and extra gear. Since the weather can change
quickly at high altitude, dress in layers and bring a hat, goggles,
neck gaiter, sunglasses and sunscreen. We provide water.

Terms and Conditions Upon making a reservation with the San Juan Ski Company, all guests agree to theses terms and conditions:
Payment Details All prices are in US dollars. On our skiing and snowboarding trips we require a non refundable $100.00 deposit per seat. The remaining balance is due the morning of the scheduled trip.We accept MasterCard, Visa and American Express. Cancellation Policy No refunds will be given for cancellations within 7 days of scheduled trip. Please understand our cancellation policy and respect our mutual commitment. We are reserving seats on our snowcats for you and your group, turning away potential guests on the day of your reservation. SJSC Refund Policy In the rare case that skiing and boarding must be cancelled due to mechanical failure, the SJSC will provide a full refund. The SJSC does not provide refunds for weather or health related issues or cancellations due to family emergencies or injuries. The SJSC reserves the right to cancel a package at any time, and full refunds will be given. The SJSC cannot be held responsible for any client’s personal inconvenience or travel expenses. Ability Levels While we want everyone to have a good time. There are some ability issues that should be mentioned. Each year we get a couple of over ambitious guests who get in above their heads (literally!). Nobody wants to hold up the rest of the group on a powder day, so here are a few things to consider before booking a trip with us.
Our choice of terrain each day is based on avalanche hazard, snow conditions, and skier ability. We like to challenge our guests as much as their ability and snow conditions allow. Guests should be of advanced and expert ability and able to ski in variable snow conditions on steep treed slopes. If you concerned about holding up other skiers, or about being held up, consider renting the entire cat for your own private group. If you know how everyone skis you won’t have to worry about the pace. For safety reason, guests who are uncooperative or lack the ability to ski the terrain for that day may be subject to arrest by the snowcat police. |
Thank you for choosing San Juan Ski Company. Don’t
hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We look forward
to skiing with you this season.
