About

With over 35,000 acres of skiable terrain, ranging from open bowls, steep chutes, perfectly spaced trees and 300+ inches of snow every year – we guarantee fresh tracks every run. Equipped with 3 passage snow cats, 2 comfortable mat tracks vans, and almost 55 miles of untracked terrain, San Juan Untracked provides the ultimate guided snowcat skiing and boarding experience.

Location

Located north of historic downtown Durango, Colorado, San Juan Untracked is situated deep in the San Juan Mountains in the midst of the notorious Rocky Mountains. A short drive from Durango, Silverton, or Telluride, our territory accesses Cascade Creek, Hotel Draw, Grayrock and Graysill peaks Our winter season typically runs from mid-December through mid-April each year.

Guides

Everyone likes to have fun, but safety for our clients is our number one priority. All of our ski and snowboard guides are professionally certified with First Aid and Avalanche Safety training. Our snowcats are equipped with a full line of first aid products and rescue gear. Along with these certifications and precautions, we have experienced explosives technicians on staff that help us open up new territory every year.
Why choose us

MASSIVE TERRAIN AREA

We have more acres than all snowcat skiing operations in Colorado combined and almost 10 times the terrain as our nearest competitor. Our permitted area is 35,000 acres.

POWDER

Our permitted territory is so large, you are assured untracked power all day long, even if it hasn’t snowed for weeks.

BACKUP EQUIPMENT

Despite regular maintenance, equipment can break or gets stuck. We have a backup snowcat and a backup van so that our clients don’t skip a beat, or miss out on an epic powder day.

SAFETY

All of our guides are highly trained in CPR, First Aid, backcountry and avalanche safety. We also have a mutual response agreement with local ski patrols in case of an emergency.

VARIETY

We have all different types of terrain – steeps, trees, big-mountain bowls, and cliff lines. We cater to advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders.

ASPECT

We have thousands of acres of north-facing aspects where the snow stays cold and light, even in late March!
